What is a PRT?

To start your tenancy on a sound legal footing, you'll need an up-to-date contract signed by all parties: landlord, tenants and guarantors. The standard contract-type for residential tenancies under Scottish law are Private Residential Tenancies (PRTs).

Scottish law specifies certain terms that must be included in a PRT, and there are many other terms that it is advisable to include to ensure that everyone's rights and responsibilities are clear.

It is therefore highly recommended for a landlord to use a professionally-drafted PRT (such as OpenRent's), in order to ensure that they don't miss out mandatory terms and risk significant fines for non-compliance, but do include all the terms that a landlord may need in order to protect their property.

"We are so impressed with OpenRent"

They drafted our contract, arranged the references, organised our electrical safety testing, took care of processing the deposit and would of organised everything else if we needed it.
