Rob: Head of Commercial Operations
“There's a driving ambition within the company to transform the rental market”
Read Rob's story →
I joined OpenRent over 8 years ago, originally in the Customer Experience & Product Development team before becoming Head of Commercial Operations. It's been very exciting to progress and take on new responsibilities within the business while the company has grown and gone from strength to strength at the same time.
There's a driving ambition within the company to transform the rental market and offer as many great products and services to our customers as possible. This has given me the chance to get involved in a huge range of areas, especially the design and launch of projects with multi-million pound value across referencing, tenant verification, deposit protection, insurance, move-in services and more.
It's amazing to have the chance to design products which will be used by potentially millions of people, and then see these grow and develop thanks to constant iteration and improvement from the wider team.

I've been working in the People Team at OpenRent for 2 years and it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From the beginning, I've had the opportunity to nurture and support a dynamic, growing team, while playing a key role in shaping the company's culture and talent strategy. I've always felt like a valued part of the team whilst ensuring each member of the team feels valued themselves because we truly care and continue to foster a positive and inclusive working environment.
No day is the same and I have found the fast-paced environment keeps things exciting, with new challenges and varied projects that naturally push me to learn and develop both personally and professionally. I've been involved in organising all of the fun perks and benefits, from the annual Away Weekend and the Away Office, to monthly socials and the Christmas Party. I've also had the opportunity to manage every aspect of the employee journey, social media as well as the day-to-day running of the office.
Working with such talented and friendly people at a company which makes a real-life difference to the lives of our users, I feel truly lucky to be a part of an innovative team and see the impact of my role everyday.

“OpenRent has always ensured that I have the tools to grow and continue learning as I progress in my role”
Read Dan's story →
OpenRent is a great place to work. I've been working here for over 2 years and from day one I've been a part of some big impact projects and been able to sculpt the role around my skills and what interests me.
I have also had incredible opportunities to make the most of the perks, from running a marathon in Lisbon when out at the Away Office to raising money for Centrepoint doing the Tough Mudder with great team mates. I've also been given the opportunity to join the Social Squad and help plan and organise some of our numerous social events, from Karaoke nights to ice skating.
OpenRent has always ensured that I have the tools to grow and continue learning as I progress in my role. It's great working for a company that cares and invests so much in its team.

“I really value the opportunity to work on products that hundreds of thousands of users interact with every month”
Read Adrian's story →
As a software engineer at OpenRent, I really value the opportunity to work on products that hundreds of thousands of users interact with every month. These products can have such a positive impact on their lives, and I also really rate the culture and infrastructure that enables us to iterate and deliver value to those customers quickly, with changes pushed out in minutes, not days or weeks.
I've had the chance to work on a host of user-facing changes, revamping our messaging experience, and systems that help to ensure our properties are available and our landlords are responsive to our tenants. I've also been involved in more technical work that helps to underpin this, including building out tools to help analyse AB tests, bringing down build and test times for faster feedback cycles, and upgrading to the latest .NET platform, all of which helps us to improve our products as quickly as possible.
There's a lot of autonomy and scope for working on the areas that interest us most, and a refreshing lack of bureaucracy with minimal but effective processes means we can focus on getting things done, and with plenty of ideas coming from everyone in the team, there's never a shortage of things we'd like to do!
