A stunning chapel conversion in the desirable village of Darsham, close to the Heritage Coast, across the road from the excellent Fox Inn. 2 minutes drive or 10 minutes walk to Darsham station with frequent connections to Ipswich and Halesworth and points North and South. London Liverpool St in about 2 hours 15 minutes. Also bus connections to Leiston, Saxmundham and Aldeburgh. Excellent licensed mini market at the petrol station close by. Aldeburgh, Southwold, Yoxford, Framlingham are all nearby.
The property, built partly in 1874 and partly in 1904 is single storey. The conversion from redundant chapel to a modern home is exciting and funky. The beautiful original windows were kept and lots of panelling and doors from the Chapel were kept and repurposed in the conversion but the floors are Farrow and Ball painted poured concrete, internal walls are raw or lime washed brick or lime plaster combined with hemp. Ceilings are reclaimed lime washed timber. There is underfloor heating throughout and ceiling fans in every room. Lighting is thoughtful. The furniture is a mixture of antiques, mid-century and good modern pieces. Textures - velvet, leather, sheepskin, cotton, linen, abound and combine to make for a very comfortable environment.
Coming in through the large front lobby with coat and umbrella racks and space for boots you pass the charming conservatory, fully furnished and offering a lovely place to sit on cooler days. It links through to the kitchen.
Passing through the inner front door you find a large, very comfortable multi aspect sitting room, fully equipped with tv, books, games, and an exciting toy box for little ones to explore.
The huge eat in kitchen, with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, two fridges, freezer, double oven cooker, and every conceivable small appliance is also complete with quality crockery, cutlery, pots, pans….wine and champagne glasses, mugs, tea and espresso cups and saucers. The kitchen table comfortably seats 6.
All three bedrooms are large. Two have 150cm beds, the third is a twin. Ample storage, extremely comfortable beds, every convenience. Nice pillows and duvets, high quality 100% cotton bedlinen.
A large family bathroom has a double ended tub with shower over, loo, basin, storage, whilst the shower room offers a large walk in shower, loo, basin and shelving.
Outside
To the rear is a small but lovely courtyard, totally private, which gets the sun in the morning and is a perfect place for breakfast or as a shady retreat in the afternoon. At the front is the Gin n Tonic Terrace, perfectly situated to get the afternoon and evening sun and perhaps have a chat as people go by. Across the road is the garden of The Fox, a delightfully convenient borrowed landscape.
To the side is a shrubbery and off street parking for one car. Further parking is available on Fox Lane or The Street.
The property is offered fully found, ie with all kitchen and dining equipment, linen, towels, fortnightly cleaning, gardening, electricity, broadband, water, tv licence included in the rental. Rental periods are a minimum of one month, potentially renewable up to 5 times subject to availability, and guests will be required to fill out a booking form and provide copy passports. It is not possible to rent this property on a standard tenancy.
Pets will be considered subject to proof of treatment against fleas and on payment of an additional good housekeeping deposit, refundable if there is no damage to house or garden.
NB THE STREEVIEW PHOTO IS OF THE CHAPEL BEFORE THE CONVERSION! IT HAS NEVER BEEN UPDATED!
