Description
This characterful, pretty, tasteful one bedroom flat in a Victorian conversion has recently been newly and lovingly refurbished to a very high standard, including professionally sanded and polished old wood floors and a brand new kitchen. The building is quiet, well-kept and secure. It’s in an enviable central London location with excellent bus links from the Old Kent Road; the nearest tube stations are London Bridge Station, Elephant and Castle and Bermondsey, all of which are a mile away or less. For anyone who does prefer walking, you can be in Trafalgar Square from here in 55 mins and more or less anywhere in Central London in an hour. Burgess Park is just around the corner. For foodies and coffee lovers, the place is only 15 mins walk from Bermondsey Street, and 10 mins walk from the vibrant new food market at Dockley Road/Spa Terminus.
The flat itself has a bedroom, a separate and decent-sized living room, and a separate and decent-sized kitchen/work space. The bathroom is off the kitchen/work space and is modest but functional, including a bath and a shower. The toilet area is separate, at the back of the flat on the way to the stairs to the garden. The flat comes with a new gas hob/electric oven cooker and a decent washing machine and fridge-freezer but is offered otherwise unfurnished; curtains have been left in the flat, for example, but you might prefer to bring your own. It has mostly sash windows, in keeping with the Victorian character of the building, and is part of a quiet, secure building converted into three flats. It's a no-smoking house.
It would suit a single professional person or a couple, ideally someone who loves the buzz of living in Central London and would like to make it their home and inhabit the private garden area down stairs at the back of the flat and look after its pot plants. Both the garden and the flat itself have some storage space for anyone who needs it.
The flat is available immediately, and seeks a long-term tenant. The last tenant stayed 17 years, and took good care of the place because she loved living there. It will be offered on the standard AST 12-month tenancy, which will automatically roll on if all goes well. It’s Council Tax Band C; the deposit is negotiable; rent will be payable monthly in advance, strictly by direct debit. Since I’m not using an agent, and have little time for too many viewings and will do the tenant checks myself, the best way to secure a viewing is to write including the full names of those who would be living at the flat and their places of work. At a later stage, references will help. I expect quite a bit of interest, so apologies if I don’t get back to you, that means I can’t offer you a viewing.
