Castle Acre is 4 miles from the market town of Swaffham, which has both Tesco and Waitrose supermarkets. Castle Acre is well known for its 13th century priory and castle ruins and is on the Peddars Way, an old Roman road. There is a village green, an excellent pub, The Ostrich, a fine church and a well stocked village grocery shop. The river Nar flows through fields surrounding the village. There are good walks and safe bicycling on the many tiny country roads.
