On the fringe of The Lake District, this historic home built in the 18th century in 1789, has been beautifully updated to provide a fusion of modern convenience and technology while retaining features of its original grace.

This spacious airy double has a sitting area, a large workstation with office chair, fireplace, original exposed stone work, a teak mantle, 18th century wood flooring and plenty of storage. Wardrobe and 6 drawer dresser. huge mirror, double bed and bedside table. The window offers lovely afternoon sunlight that streams into the large room.

You’ll be welcomed into a comfortable place where you can create memorable times with interesting housemates who are respectful, career professionals that come to the area from many places in the world, such as Malaysia, Australia, Saudia Arabia, Europe and the UK.

There are rooms over the home’s 3 floors, 3 shower rooms and a separate utility room. You’ll share 1 large bathroom and the large kitchen/communal area. You have your own private bedroom, and so have your sleeping hub and personal quiet time, as you desire.

Absolutely fantastic downtown location on a quiet cul-de-sac. There’s a little alley that takes you directly onto the Main Street. No need to drive or find parking, as you can simply wander leisurely around this “Gem Town” of Cockermouth.

In just a short, 3-minute stroll, you can enjoy the sights as you walk or cycle from the front door along the nature paths or riverside trails, or enjoy the Kirkgate’s live music, film and theatre. 

Easy cycle ride to the lakes or harder rides over Whinlatter pass.

 Night life is abundant at restaurants and pubs, including the 16th century Castle Bar, a CAMRA award winning pub. The Indian restaurant ‘The Spice Club’ is a favourite with housemates as is ‘Koppers’ the cocktail bar across the street ( housed in the old police station).

The Medical Centre, Hospital, Leisure Centre, The Kirkgate Theatre (with live music and cinema) Sainsbury’s, specialty shops, and a good bike shop are all within a very short walking distance. You might even meet your future partner here, as a couple of marriages have resulted from friendships in the house.

Work from home or easy access to The Lakes, Sellafield, Carlisle, Keswick, Maryport, Dovenby M-Sport, Lillyhall, Workington, and Whitehaven (all within commuting distance). The house is right downtown but close to A66 and A595 for easy traffic free commuting.

Resident’s parking pass is low cost and easy to purchase online from the local council.
