About Surbiton & Kingston
From Surbiton rail station, there are 10-12 trains per hour to Waterloo including 4 fast trains each hour (20min). The maisonette is one-minute walk away from 4 bus routes, all of which lead to Kingston’s shopping district in 10 min. If you like to exercise, we are 5 min walk from Surbiton Tennis Club & gym. We are 10 min walk from Fishponds Park, 15 min walk from Alexandra Rec. If you like to run, we're a 5-10 min run to the river path or towards Green Park in the other direction. It's a 15 min cycle ride to the cycle paths of Bushy Park, and a ten minute bus ride to Kingfisher Pool. The Surbiton library is right next door.

This is a convenient & safe area (professionals, families). If you don't know Surbiton, it's a well-kept secret in greater London with superb access to central London (next major stop after Wimbledon on the train) despite its Zone 6 location. It’s not terribly posh (but posh enough to have a huge Waitrose and a Basilico Pizzeria). It’s not very funky (but funky enough to have a few great independent coffee options). It’s also international enough so that no one feels out of place, and it has great community spirit. There are excellent state schools nearby (Limetree, Maple Infants, St Andrew's & St Mark's, Christ Church, Grand Avenue, Tiffin) as well as several top-notch independent schools in the neighbourhood (Surbiton High, Shrewsbury House, Kingston Grammar).

Surbiton town centre (5 min walk away) has everything you need from supermarkets (Waitrose, M&S, Sainsbury's) to hardware stores to coffee shops to Thai food. There's great community spirit in Surbiton. We've got a great big weeklong festival in September (The Surbo). In May, there's a food festival. There are also a great set of creative events put on by the Seething Wells folks (King's Soup, Giant Games, Trycyclingathon). Nearby, there's an award-winning farmer's market on Maple Rd (monthly), as well a four-star restaurant (The French Table) next to my favourite bakery (The French Tart) next to my favourite Gastro pub (The Grove). There is an excellent butcher down the street on Ewell Road (CJ Jennings) as well as the *best* baklava money can buy at Carmela's bakery, and a pretty swanky restaurant at Langley's.

Kingston is a 30 min walk away. (10min by bus, less than 5 min wait.) It is a major shopping hub (John Lewis, Bentall Centre) for the southwest. Kingston has a daily farmer's market and excellent food stalls in the historic town centre. There are 100+ restaurants, nightclubs, cafes, pubs, as well as multiplex cinema too. Kingston is home to the excellent Rose Theatre (and hosts an amazing summer theatre festival). The Kingston festival runs for 3 weeks in the summer. And yes, Kingston hosts its own food festival and a regatta. It is also home to rowing and sailing clubs, buskers, etc. Just across the bridge is Bushy Park with its amazing trails for running & biking.
