Description

Note: This OpenRent Property Is No Longer Available For Rent. Description below is only for reference, and you can no longer book a viewing or contact this private landlord.

Double room in 3 bed house in Bridgehouse Court, Blackfriars road, Southbank.

Small, furnished double room with abundant storage and plenty natural light.

Large living room and good sized kitchen downstairs, bathroom and 3 bedrooms upstairs.

Superb shared garden with ~20 properties.

Gated community with our own garage parking spot and safe storage of bicycles.

Superb location - close to Southwark station, Waterloo and a Sainsbury's across the road.

Sharing with 2 professionals (males) and 1 PhD student (female, girlfriend) in our mid/late 20s.

The room is fairly small with a double bed, wardrobe and small working desk. It is in the second floor with a large, East facing circular window (brand new) from which it gets plenty natural light and views to our garden (no noise). Additional storage is right outside the room in a very large built in wardrobe shared with one other room. Carpet in very good condition.

The bathroom has a sink, toilet and a bath with working jets, all in good condition. There is a heated towel radiator, additional towel hanging behind the door, an exhaust fan and a large mirror.

The two other bedrooms are also in the second floor. These and the stairs are carpeted.

Downstairs there is a large living room. It has 2 3-seater sofas with reclining seats and a round table with 4 chairs. We have plenty furniture in the room including a large flatscreen TV & PS4, 2 tables each with one desktop computer set, shoe rack and a large mirror. The room's current tenant also has a cupboard here but previously we have had another table with a computer - this would be your 'allocated' living room space to use as you see fit. Even with the above there is still plenty free space in the room. It has wooden floors and large West facing windows with unremarkable views to pedestrian Valentine Row (very quiet).

The kitchen is of good size and has all standard white goods: large fridge + freezer, oven (with vent hood), 4 has hobs, washing machine and dishwasher. Plenty storage - 1 large cupboard per room and additional space for shared items. We already have pans, pots, plates, cutlery, etc. It has a small to the garden.

The corridor has the video intercom granting access to the gated property and two large shoe racks. There a storage cupboard where he keep the hoover, drying racks, mop, broom, etc.

The house entrance is right in front of the shared garden and within the gated property (very safe). By the door we have a small table and two seats (ideal for breakfast on sunny days) and a tiny plot of our own.

The garden is shared with ~20 properties and is truly remarkable in central London, comprising of a large grass section, a smaller bushy section and some small scattered trees. It has a wooden outdoor table & bench (6 seater) and BBQ (of which we are heavy users in weekends). The garden is above street level (effectively a first floor) with the surrounding houses only two floors higher and so gets direct sunlight for many hours. It is extremely well kept as the property has a full time building maintenance employee (paid by the landlord, not us).

The property has a shared and secure garage. We have a parking spot within in (currently unused, you can call it yours if you have a car) and is excellent for storing bicycles safely and conveniently. There is also an attic with plenty storage space.

It's superb central local has unbeatable transport links - 4 min walk to Southwark Station (Jubilee), 8 to Waterloo (Jubilee, Bakerloo, Northern, Waterloo & City and trains to Southern England), and <15 min walk to London Bridge, Borough, Elephant & Castle and Blackfriars Railway station [all times from Google maps]. The North-South cycle superhighway is literally in front of the house making most of the city within reach in <15 min cycle. There are abundant buses to Waterloo and London bridge, day and night, and of course the night tube in Southwark and Waterloo stations. Airport transport is excellent with Waterloo East going to Gatwick and Blackfriars to Gatwick and Luton, including night services. It as also walking distance to many London landmarks.

There is a Sainsbury's local accross the road, plenty bars and cafes in the area around Southwark station and Union street and all the restaurants and food stands of Southbank 10 min walk. Access to jogging and cycling routes arounds the river, free swimming pool in Elephant & Castle and nearby tennis and football fields.

One of the rooms is occupied by a 27 yo Irish male working in the city. The other by a couple, 27 yo Spanish male in tech and 25 yo Danish female studying a PhD. We are close friends going back many years and are looking for someone who may fix in into our little community. The house is clean (and you’d be expected to do your share of cleaning), plus we have a cleaner come in every two weeks.

£790 / month + bills. Not subletting - you will be added to the contract (year contract, minimum stay 6 months and will incur some agency fees).
