I will put some more photos on the ad when they are available. The first one that I have put on shows the outside of the building, which is at the top of Church Street, right by the castle and with views towards the Ashton Memorial in the other direction. I've also included a picture showing the view of the castle from the front of the flat and ones of the kitchen and bathroom.
The flat has a large sitting room with sofa and armchairs and which also has space for dining. It's a grand room with large windows that face the street and an impressive polished wood fire surround. There's a separate kitchen with a small table to eat at and a bathroom with toilet, washbasin, bath. There is a shower over the bath.
The double bedroom has a double bed, bedside cupboards, dressing table with drawers and a large built-in wardrobe. The room is so big that even with all this furniture it is still really spacious!
The single room has a single bed, bedside table, a built-in wardrobe and chest of drawers.
It would be possible to use the living room as a bedroom, instead of the single bedroom.
Both the bedrooms and the kitchen look out onto the back of the house and the garden, which has a lawned area and a patio. There is a door from the kitchen onto the patio. The garden is quiet and peaceful and there is room to dry washing outside.
The kitchen has a cooker, microwave oven, kettle, and fridge/freezer and there is a separate small utility room with a washing machine. There is an airer that can be lowered on pulleys from the kitchen ceiling, to dry laundry on. Clean bedding, towels, kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery etc. are also provided for use if wanted.
The hall has room for storage of coats, shoes etc. and the flat has lots of storage space elsewhere too.
Bills for gas, electricity, water, internet, TV and council tax are not included.
The house is quiet and so the flat would suit people who are also quiet and civilised - possibly a postgraduate student/couple or visiting researcher/s with a child, or two postgrads sharing? Please note that it is not available on separate tenancy agreements, only on a joint one that covers all tenants. Please let me know if you are interested even if you don't currently have someone to share with, as I already have one person interested, who might be able to share with you.
I would consider renting the flat to someone with a well-behaved cat (not more than one), but no dogs or other pets are allowed.
There is some on-street parking available nearby, although the residents' parking scheme requires use of a resident's permit, which is currently c.£40/year, or a visitor's permit, which is 10p/day. Further information about the scheme is available on Lancaster City Council's website; look for residents' parking zone B. There is space at the flat to store bicycles.
I live only a few minutes away in case of problems and the flat is near Lancaster railway station and the city centre. It takes only a few (about 3!) minutes to walk to the bus station, from where there are frequent buses to Lancaster University and the Lancaster campus of The University of Cumbria. Alternatively it's only a few minutes stroll into town and there is an excellent coffee shop very nearby. Sainsbury's supermarket in Cable Street is only a few minutes away.
The campus of the University of Cumbria is a pleasant 20-25 minutes walk away and there are lovely countryside walks and cycling routes very close too, along the river and canal and round the local nature reserve.
