Description
Manor Farm is on main A30 road going through West Coker; but the flat is on the north side so very little road noise.
Directions:
Go up Gooseacre Lane and turn left almost immediately, Manor Farm House is on your left. The Google location photo does not show the hedge that is in my photo. The shed has since gone.
The Flat:
The flat consists of a small entrance lobby entering into a good sized tiled living room with fireplace ( not working)
The kitchen is on your immediate right. This has a fitted fridge freezer (full height), new fitted oven and washing machine.
The double bedroom with new carpet and bathroom are through the living room.
The hot water and heating is electric. There is a large hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard. These is heated by means of Economy 7 which is half the usual electric tariff. This is a listed building which means the windows cannot be plastic although they are double glazed.
Local Amenities:
There are two pubs in the village, called the Royal George and the Inn on the Square. There is also the East Street Bistro Wine Bar open at weekends, a garage with shop, a renowned butchers, post office, and of course The Lanes Hotel with spa/brasserie/bar all within easy walking distance. The West Coker Surgery is very close.
Location:
Close to Yeovil centre 10 mins by car 3.4 miles according to Google. 4 Supermarkets plus a new one being built on the West Coker side of Yeovil. 2 train stations. Buses are frequent . See the Village Website for more details.
History : According to Wikipedia , the village has a long history of growing hemp and flax for sailcloth manufacture, which made "Coker Canvas" highly prized by naval captains during the Napoleonic Wars, and indeed used on HMS Victory. Dawes Twine Works is a late 19th-century historic building in the village formerly used for the manufacture of and twine.
