The nearest towns are Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford. The latter two have hospitals and all three have libraries and schools. Oakham has a train service to London and Birmingham and Stamford trains go to London via Peterborough. Corby also has a direct service to St Pancras. 
The village itself has two pubs and a small post office/shop. For recreaction, Rutland Water is just over 4 miles away which is ideal for cycling, walking, sailing etc., and Wakerley Woods and Fineshade woods are perfect for woodland walks, cycle tracks and dog walking.  There are leisure facilities comprising swimming pools and gyms in Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford.
