3 Bed Terraced House, Ridgefield Road, OX4

A 1930s, recently-renovated, bright three-bedroom, two bathroom terraced house, with original wooden floors, underfloor heating in the kitchen and modern high quality appliances.

Ground floor:

The ground floor of the house is open plan and includes a lounge, kitchen and dining area as well as vestibule with shoe storage,shelving and coat hooks. There is a separate WC.

The kitchen is furnished with Bosch appliances, including a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, gas hob and electric oven. The kitchen/dining area has underfloor heating and large back, side and roof windows giving out to the back garden.

The lounge area has parquet flooring.

First floor

The first floor is composed of two bedrooms and a large bathroom.One of the bedrooms is currently used as a study and does not have a bed in it. Both bedrooms have inbuilt storage and the original wooden floors. This means there are small gaps between the floorboards.

The bathroom includes a bathtub and separate shower as well as a utility cupboard with boiler and washing machine.

Second floor

The second floor landing overlooks the garden and is currently used as a study. The bedroom includes inbuilt storage. There is cork floor throughout. The second floor includes a small bathroom, with shower, sink and WC.

Outside

Garden: The house has a front and back garden. The back garden can be accessed from the front of the house through a secure alley (full-height locked gate) shared with the neighbour.

Car parking: There is the option to park a car off-street on the drive, though that is quite tight with the hedging. Once a car is on the drive, it is difficult to squeeze past it. A resident’s parking permit to allow on-street parking can be obtained from the council and costs about GBP60 per year.

Outside storage: There is a shed at the back of the garden,where garden tools, garden furniture and bicycles can be securely stored. We provide gardening tools (lawn mower, rake, spade, bamboo stakes, shears etc.),and a ladder in the shed.

Furnishing and decoration:

The house will be part-furnished but we are happy to discuss if you want to bring your own or need anything specific. All available storage(cupboards, wardrobes, shelving) is inbuilt. We plan to take the dining table, TV, desk chairs, all soft furnishings, rugs and paintings as well as the blue sofa and chairs shown in the lounge with us. This leaves the two beds, desks, bench and dining room chairs.  If you are coming without furniture, do let us know what you need.

About you

We would love to rent to professionals, a family or mature students and researchers who plan to stay for at least a year and ideally longer. We are moving abroad to Europe but have friends in the neighbourhood and will be able to support should there be any issues or emergencies. We have loved this house. Lockdown meant that we have transitioned both of our workplaces to it and it has been our oasis during this past year.

We’d rather not have pets living in the house.

Additional Services

We have a trustworthy cleaning lady and will happily pass on her contacts to you, should you need one. The back garden is only three years old and many plants are still young and will need some care throughout the year. If you prefer, we can also engage a gardener to look after the garden.  

Location

The house is a 5-minute walk from Cowley Road and Magdalen Road, with plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants etc. Further down the Cowley Road (10-15 minutes) is a cinema. 5-10 minute walk in the other direction is Florence Park (with lawns, tennis courts, café, kids play area) and the river is a 10-15 minute walk away. It is a 15min cycle or half an hour walk into the centre of town.
