About Plumstead.
A large portion of Plumstead is parks, commons and woodland.
Bramblebury Road (SE18) is just off Plumstead Common. There are four tennis courts, a lawn bowls club, nature reserve, adventure playground and dog park (gated field) at the top of the road, with a kids' paddling pool, ravine with duck pond, running track and an Iron Age burial mound elsewhere on the Common.
The nearest cafes are the acclaimed Plumstead Pantry and The Slade Cafe, and pubs The Old Mill and The Star are a short walk. Greenwich Rugby Club is just in front of The Old Mill.
Friends of Shrewsbury Park, Plumstead Common Environmental Group and Art Plumstead hold regular events, markets, nature walks and activities if you want to get involved.
Shooters Hill with its golf course, equestrian centre, city farm, garden centre and castle folly are an uphill walk, but once there you can check out the rolling view out of the city from Oxleas Meadows, or look at London's skyscrapers from Shrewsbury Park.
Charlton House and Charlton (outdoor, heated) Lido are a short distance away.
Nearby Woolwich hosts the usual high street/supermarket offering along with some good pubs, restaurants and cafes on the Arsenal site, an acclaimed Eritrean restaurant (The Blue Nile), lots of Nepalese, a good Vietnamese etc.
