The Town

Bruton is a very pretty medieval town... a great community. Circa 3000 people in the town... it's really a big village.

There are 2 vibrant pubs on the high street and many good restaurants with The Chapel being a favourite and Matt's Kitchen, Roth Bar and Grill, the michelin starred Osip is close by and The Old Pharmacy also having strong reputations. Good cocktails are available at The Chapel and Hauser & Wirth. There is a new wine bar on the high street.

Out of town country walks and luxury dining are available at the nearby Newt and and not so far Babington House.

If art is your thing then world class contemporary art is on show at the Hauser & Wirth Gallery and there are numerous other smaller galleries dotted around.

Local countryside is a must... if you are not too athletic then a short walk to the Dovecote which overlooks the town will still be in your capabilities... beyond that for the more adventurous are King Alfred's Tower and Stourhead ornamental gardens, Cadbury Castle and Glastonbury Tor. So
much to see and do...

Local towns to visit are beautiful georgian Bath (20 miles), fashionable market town Frome (10 miles), spiritual Glastonbury (17 miles) and tiny pretty city Wells (10 miles). Stonehenge ancient monument is just 30 miles away.

At the end of June each year Glastonbury Festival happens just 8 miles away 9the festival takes a 1 year break in 2026). Bruton makes an excellent oasis from which to commute to the event.

Bruton has great schools, a variety of good food shops including an organic shop and a post office. There is a pharmacy and doctor’s surgery in the town.
