Room in a Shared House, Richmond Road, BS16
Overview
Bedrooms: 3 | Bathrooms: 2 |
Max Tenants: 1 | Location: Bristol |
Description
The house is a three/four bedroom Victorian townhouse with tonnes of character and features - including exposed stonework, a log burner, and a lathe wall in the bedroom that is up for rent - and has been renovated to a super high standard (led by Julie, who graduated as an Architect), including reclaimed pine floors, granite worktops, two separate bath/shower rooms, and a glass roofed dining area that opens out on to the patio.
Unlike other rental properties, every aspect of the renovation has been designed to maximise the quality of life of those living here. So instead of lifeless box-like rooms and cheap fixtures and fittings, the house is full of charm and features that make day-to-day living far more enjoyable, including super powerful showers and a large range cooker with five hobs and three ovens. Designed with renters in mind, the shared spaces are also plentiful and carefully designed so as to provide spaces where people can eat and relax together or, when they prefer, to have their own space to themselves.
Julie and me (Matt) will be living here as well until the middle of next year when we'll be off and inviting others in to replace us. As such, those joining now will have the opportunity to stay on for the longer term should they choose, including the possibility of renting the entire place as a group if so desired.
In terms of location, while we may live outside the centre of Bristol we're actually only a 20 minute cycle along the traffic-free Bristol to Bath cyclepath to Cabot Circus, 15 mins to Easton, or 45 minutes in the other direction to Bath, and road links are great given close proximity to the ringroad and motorways. There's also a bus stop in front of the house and a Metrobus stop a short walk away, which takes around 30-35 mins into the centre.
There are a number of pubs close by (we do a pub quiz on the first Tuesday of each month, but keen to do more), a Tesco Express 2 mins away and a Lidl and Sainsburys all within walking distance, while its also a short cycle into the countryside for when you want a break from the city. Parking can be made available if required and while there is also onstreet parking just around the corner.
As for us, we're two friendly and outgoing 29 years old who speak English, French and Spanish between us. We're sociable but also pretty chilled and very respectful of people's privacy and desire to have downtime - we tend to spend our evenings relaxing among ourselves, cooking and watching something on Netflix. We both work from home (we have a private office space) and our likes/hobbies include cooking, cycling, hiking and travelling, while I'm also a keen bodyboarder and head down some weekends to the north Devon/South Wales coasts, for which people are more than welcome to join. Jamie is 25 and recently moved to Bristol, where he works in film/tv production, and is a keen cyclist, filmmaker and enjoys cooking.
Who we are looking for?
We'd like somebody who is laid back and easy going, sociable enough to join us for the occasional pub quiz or house dinner but also independent and respectful of others as well as being clean/tidy.
