Description

Note: This OpenRent Property Is No Longer Available For Rent. Description below is only for reference, and you can no longer book a viewing or contact this private landlord.

This 2 bedroom cottage was once a 17th Century Cider House but has now been beautifully converted. It is situated in the grounds of Grade Two listed house in the charming village of Batcombe.

Batcombe is 2.5 miles from Bruton, with a great selection of restaurants, shops and places to visit (see ) The newly opened Hauser and Wirth Gallery and The Chapel Bar and Restuarant, for example. Bruton is also the nearest train station, on the Bath - Weymouth Line.  There is also a mainline railway station at Castle Cary (6 miles) with services to London (Paddington). From Gillingham (15 miles) trains run to Waterloo taking approximately 2 hours. The town of Frome is 7 miles away, which is building a reputation for its regular artisan craft and produce markets and variety of independent shops.

Batcombe is a friendly village in a beautiful valley in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A haven for dogwalkers and horse riders. There is a Grade One listed church, children's playground, an award winning pub (The Three Horseshoes) and a large Jubilee Hall with a lively calender of events. The Cider House is under 5 minutes walk from all these facilities, lying at the heart of the village, but still very peaceful and quiet.

The property itself is built into a hill and the main access is onto the first floor, though there is also secondary access from Kale Street if preferred. There is a newly installed open plan kitchen with an oven dishwasher, washing machine and fridge, all of which are just a  year old so in great working condition.  The kitchen leads to more open plan living space with oak flooring throughout. from the kitchen there are tri fold doors to a patio/garden where table and chairs can be set up in Summer. There are carpeted stairs down to 2 double bedrooms (currently set up as a double and a twin) and a bathroom with shower. The Cider House is light and airy, with beautiful exposed oak beams and mullion windows- full of character!

Beyond the patio area, residents of the Cider House also have use of an area of lawn and off-road parking for one car.

There is a BT phone line, gas heating and underfloor heating downstairs. Tenants to cover Council Tax (Band A) gas, electricity and phone (water rates included in rent).

Sorry but The Old Cider House is not suitable for pets (as we have two Jack Russells) or children. Its ideal for a couple or someone living by themselves.

PLEASE NOTE! The street view shows the Cider House as it was a few years ago before it was converted into a cosy home.
