LocationNorthumberland Heath is more commonly referred to locally as "North Heath" and is often considered to be part of upper Erith. Bordered by Barnehurst, Belvedere, Bexleyheath, Slade Green and Crayford.
The area now known as Northumberland Heath was originally part of the ancient Saxon manor of Earhythe or Erith as we know it today. The name means to the north of the "humbre" which was the word for stream or river, presumably a tributary of the River Cray.
