One room, the Bridge,  in a circa 1775 grade II listed semi-detached house from 29-Aug-24.

Located 150 metres from Magdalene College Porters Lodge on Castle Hill opposite the Castle Mound.

Modernisation since 2022
     • In March 2022 the lower stairs were repaired and in May 2022 re-recarpeted. A new bannister rope was hung 16-Jun-22, and the tumble drier animal flap (very important!) was re-affixed to the drier vent hole. 
     • In June 2022 A new toilet pan was installed and guide wires were affixed to the yard walls for the four climbing roses recently planted. As you can see in June 2024 the roses are triumphant.
     • In May 2023 the kitchen table was replaced with something more compact, the too small space for the old tumble drier was converted into a hoover garage and a new larger tumble drier was installed with a more robust rope banister replacing the less robust, frayed one year old one.
    • In June 2023 the bathroom floor was, with ceramic tile, two thirds relayed. The climbing roses survived the aphid ridden winter and spring and guide wires were therefore extended at right angles to the yard rear wall between the fence posts leading to the back wall of the house with the aim of turning the yard, in due course, into an arbour for roses and to that end new tenants will be asked to agree not to park bicycles in the yard. 
   • In March and May 2024 the rope banisters were replaced with varnished wooden hand rails (much better!) and an imitation (£1200) Chippendale desk was added to the bridge.

Rent is paid four months in advance (though there is no deposit) with the first four months due, before moving in, to complete the contract and then recurring payments monthly thereafter (commencing from the first quarter of month two with no payments, therefore, at the back end of the term of the contract). 

For payment 10-12 months in advance there will be a 5% discount.

The property is shared with three other tenants (a twenty something University of Cambridge lady postgraduate student in the creative writing department and a second twenty something University of Cambridge lady graduate along with a fifty something gentleman student of accounting). 

Owing to the elegant sufficiency of space in the house, and in particular the presence of just one bathroom, in other words for the benefit of the other inhabitants, the room is not offered to couples. 

• The Bridge (available for GBP 1020) is on the ground floor and has its own entrance. It is 3.3 x 3.8 (12.5) square metres and has a cream coloured limestone floor. It benefits from an imitation Chippendale desk, a built in wardrobe, cupboard and shelves and Japanese style (low) bed 200 cm x 110 cm so 22% wider than a single bed but not as wide as a double bed.

The rent includes all the bills. Were these amortised between a putative four inhabitants and charged separately they would amount to £50 per month (council tax), £60 per month (electricity), £60 per month (gas), £50 per month (internet), £15 per month (water and sewage) so for comparison with equivalent properties where all bills are not included you could allow for £235 per month included.
